In researches where vitamin D was additionally administrated for small periods (6-12 weeks) in large doses (4000-8000IU) it was proved to be more effective therapeutically especially when combined with calcium (1.000-1.2000mg) both for Type 2 diabetic patients where the simultaneous intake of calcium with vitamin D managed to reduce the insulin, the glycosylated hemoglobin, the LDL cholesterol and the ratio of total/HDL cholesterol of the patients (Tabesh M, Diabetologia. 2014 Oct) and also on Type 1 diabetic patients to whom the glycosylated hemoglobin was lower while the percentages of vitamin D were increasing (Aljabri KS, AnnSaudi Med. 2010 Nov-Dec).
